Omar Z. Robles + Boca Tuya

Here is just a glimpse of the many collaborations between Omar Z. Robles and Boca Tuya. These are projects that stretch from the streets of New York to the shores of Puerto Rico.

What I love most about his photography, beyond the impeccable lighting, framing, and composition, is its deep cultural sensitivity. Puerto Rico appears through nuance, a reflection of the layered complexity of our Latine identities.

In many ways, his work mirrors my own artistic practice. We don’t set out to make “Latinx art.” It simply is. It’s in our blood, in our bones. It lives in us. The stories of those who came before shape everything we create. We honor them. We celebrate both past and present. And in doing so, we build something uniquely our own.
